	Adjective	Comparative	Superlative
1	One syllable. Example: tall	taller than (add er)	the tallest (add est)
2	Two syllables and ending in –y. example: funny	funnier than (‘y’ is changed into ‘i’, and then add er)	the funniest (‘y’ is changed into ‘i’, and then add est)
3	Two syllables with derivational endings (-full, -less, -ish, -ous, -ing, -ed) . example: famous	more famous than	the most famous
4	Three or more syllables. Example: expensive	more expensive than	the most expensive
5	Irregular: good bad far little much/many	better than worse farther than (for distance) further than (for addition) less than more than	the best the worst the farthest the least the most

Notes:

1.        Final y preceded by consonant is changed to i (setiap huruf akhir y yang didahului huruf konsonan di ubah menjadi i). For example: lucky+er/est       luckier, luckiest;  lively+er/est   livelier,liveliest

2.       A final single consonant preceded by  single vowel is doubled ( jika ada satu huruf akhir konsonan yang didahului satu huruf vowel, maka huruf konsonan terakhir tadi digandakan. For example: big+er/est      bigger, biggest;  thin+er/est       thinner, thinnest.

3.       Final ‘e’ is dropped (jika huruf akhir berupa ‘e’, maka ‘e’ dihilangkan). Example: simple+er simpler, simplest.
